Drive Traffic and Get Insights for Content Being Copied on Your Website with Tynt Publisher Tools

The content you publish on your blog or website can be really helpful. I know, your content matters most to you too. Your blog / website visitors interact with your content and when they find them interesting, they will go extra mile and share it with their friends and followers too. Talking about sharing, you may have implemented sharing tools to make sharing easy. As it link back to your original content page, it helps you to get more visitors on your content.

But it's not the only way of sharing. Copying and pasting content is a common scenario which can be considered as sharing too. Sometimes users just don't need all your content to be shared, but may need to copy or share a portion of your blog post / article such as specific code snippet, paragraph, image on your post or somewhat useful for their friends. Can you count on them too?

Are You Missing Opportunity?

When people share your content using sharing tools you have implemented on your blog or website, you are getting more and more exposure to your content. But what if they copy portion of your content and share with their friends? Most of time there is no link attached with the content they copy and send to their friends. Therefore there is no way they will come back to your blog or website to read your content if they need more help of it or wanna see full content. Now you start thinking. So absolutely you are missing opportunity. Opportunity of increasing engagement and reach. It's probably higher than you imagine. Did you ever think about it?

This is just insights for my blog for a month when I test out Tynt to see how much content being copied on my blog according to Tynt. So copying happens, matters and we are missing opportunity, right? I don't say I can convert all copying activities into page views, as I provide code snippets for them to copy and use. But missing opportunity of benefiting from content being copied on my blog.

Mayura,  Thank you so much for explaining Tynt. I had touched on it before, was going to add it on, but forgot.  Now, you have explained it well and gave me step by step instructions so it is easy for me to do.
I am saving this so I can install it on my blog.
Once I typed in my name just for fun on a Google search.  I found a video of myself but with a different address.  When I went to it, someone had swiped my video on a topic and then added their sales page.
Guess what that sales page was?  A porn site!!!! Yes.  I immediately reported them and they were shut down in minutes.
Another time I went to a blog and said to myself "this sounds familiar"  Guess what?
It was some of my exact words from a blog that I posted months ago.

Now, due to Google coming down on pictures we use, even those I had purchased, I am making my own.  They are not so great, but original.

I need to put this on my blog.  My husband just looked at it with me an will help me do it.  If I do it alone...I will get lost.  Even though it seems easy, I know me...I always do something that breaks my blog ha ha.  Well at leas I know my strengths and weaknesses.

Thank you again,
Donna

Hi Donna,

Oh my gosh... Really? :O Your search saved you. no? ;) Glad it taken down after reporting. Our content is always our responsibility and we have to be alert on it.

I do search my content too and take down blogs which copied my content. Sometimes I get traffic from that site too due to internal linking to my pages, but I just don't like it have on another blog without permissions and it's like acting irresponsibly. You know what, sometimes I find blogs most similar to mine. They even copy my About page too. LOL... It has my name and all my interests too ;) Such a lame people lives in this world.

Google image search is enable access to any image. That's a problem eventhough we can request to remove. I'm always trying to create images as I can too :)

I think you would like to have this on your blog dear :) We know how much shares happened with share button counts but never know if someone just copy and send it to a friend. You know by your experience as you said :) Also you offer content to read, not code snippets or like that to copy. So if someone copy your content, it matters. They just not reading, but gonna send or publish somewhere else. So it matters and this will give you an extra SEO boost too :)

Oh you still can't implement it alone after all? Oh Donna. Nooooo.... ;) Just kidding dear. Yeah, I know someone like you too. You should just create a free blog just to learn how to implement codes and all. No risk there. After learning and practicing, you can do it yourself on your own blog :)

Thanks for your wonderful comment and compliments dear :)

Cheers...

Ah you probably already know Mayura, I'm using Tynt and also wrote a post about it.

I love the fact that not only will your link be included when people copy your content but the keyword feature will provide the keywords people use to leave your site and find more information.  Those are my two favorite features.

You can also see how many times your content has been copies along with how many new links you have to your site.I know others will appreciate you sharing this with them so thank you for that.  You're becoming quite the teacher Mayura.Have a wonderful evening.~Adrienne

Oops... I didn't know that dear :) I just went again to your blog to see it, 'cause I didn't notice. BTW I never copied your text but share post.

So you know about it Adrienne :) I've been using Tynt for few months ago and wanted to come up with stats as few my friends refused to use it when I suggested 'cause they didn't believe copying happen that way. But now they do :)

I agree with your mentioned features of Tynt and another thing I like is it shows copied images. Mostly it gives me a clue that someone has copied my full content to publish somewhere. And it works. Tynt is a absolutely a useful tool that publishers should have.

Oops... Teacher? :) I love helping out and user feedback is what meant most to me.

Thanks for your lovely comment Adrienne and for adding your thoughts as a Tynt user.

Cheers...

Thanks Mayura for this information.  I did not know about Tynt, but will certainly look into it.  The problem I have on my blog is the Genesis framework.  Seems whenever I add plugins I have issues on my blog causing me expense for web coder or webmaster.

But with the comments from Donna, Adrienne and Sylviane - I want to give this plugin a try!  Appreciate the step by step instructions - good job!

Well explained post Mayura!

I remember having read about Tynt at Adrienne's blog sometime back, and I did bookmark the page to get down to doing it later, but somehow forgot about it. So this is a wonderful reminder for me once again.:)

The best part being that you explained each step so wonderfully that makes it all the more easier to get started. And beside getting to know how many times your content is copies, you are even able to get your link out to more people, and get to  know the keywords that are being hunted around for, thus giving you more ideas for your posts.

I guess I better get started with your tutorial here and if I get stuck, I know whom to ask for help. :)Thanks for sharing. :)

Mayura De Silva said...

Hi Harleena,

Absolutely dear :) Do we know when our posts being shared on Twitter, Facebook etc? Yeah, we can get idea by share counts at least. But do we know when our content copied and send via email, message or share on social networks by just copying it? Nope. That's why it matters and why don't we make use of it when there is a way, no? :)

See, Now you know what it can do and how to benefit from it. More back links, insights of trending content being copied, and yeah keywords give you ideas fr future posts. So I hope you don't wanna miss it. And you can customize the options you don't need to add on your blog.

Aha... ;) Anytime dear, If you need help on that. But I know you can do it :)

Thanks for your wonderful thoughts and compliments dear...
